Alex Lepauvre

PhD Candidate
Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics

Alex completed a B.Sc. in organism and population biology at the Université Angers (France) and a M.Sc. in Developmental, neural and behavioral biology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen (Germany), for which he received a DAAD scholarship. He is now a PhD candidate at the Max Planck iInstitute for Empirical Aesthetics and the Donders Institute, under the supervision of Prof. Lucia Melloni, aiming at breaching beyond the limiting contrastive method framework in consciousness research. To that aim, Alex is involved in the COGITATE project, investigating the sustenance of percepts over time using intracranial recordings.

Alex’s main research interest lies in the understanding of the dynamics of conscious experience over time as a way to better the understanding of the neural mechanisms resulting in conscious experience. To that end, he is using neural recordings method with fine temporal grain.
